Voters will go to the polls in Port Orange on Tuesday and elect a new City Council member. Two candidates have landed in a run-off election after no one candidate received more than 50% of the votes in the “primary” held April 30th. Marilyn Ford and Lee Barreiro face off to fill the Port Orange District 1 seat left vacant with the passing of councilman Bob Ford. April’s voter turnout was very low prompting Mayor Don Burnette to express his disappointment to the Port Orange Observer, “Put June 11th on your calendars. Put a reminder on your phone.” Polls are open from 7am to 7pm and polling locations can be found HERE.
